Dante Arcade
Spain
Dante Arcade is a Spanish visual artist based in Barcelona, whose practice
originates in the graffiti culture of the 1990s, initially developed through self-
directed learning, and has evolved into a contemporary language rooted in
glitch aesthetics, retro-futurism, and digital memory. His work investigates the
intersections of pop culture, technology, nostalgia, and consumerism,
articulating a visual universe that connects arcade imagery with today’s
hyperconnected society.
Through the use of digital error, pixelation, internet codes, and visual
fragmentation, he develops a critical poetics addressing the fragility of
contemporary memory, media obsolescence, and the experience of realism
within cybernetic environments. His practice engages with retro and vintage
subcultures, comics, video games, and 1990s vector aesthetics, reinterpreted
through a post-internet perspective and sustained research into the visual
languages of the digital era.
Specialized in large-scale murals and studio-based production, he creates
works with strong material presence and conceptual rigor. His hybrid practice
moves between public space and exhibition contexts, generating symbolic and
allegorical narratives that explore relationships between individuals,
communities, memory, and technological systems.
Born in the Mar Menor region (Murcia) and currently based in Barcelona, he
began his artistic trajectory influenced by urban culture, rap, and skateboarding,
integrating early on the imagery of science fiction, comics, and graffiti. Since
then, his work has developed as an ongoing process of visual archaeology, in
which the classical and the futuristic, the analog and the digital, coexist in
critical tension.
He has participated in projects and exhibitions across Europe and the
Americas, collaborating with cultural institutions and global brands. He is
currently developing new series for galleries, curatorial projects, and
international public art programs.
